Using thermal sublimation transfer paper on mugs mainly includes the steps of preliminary preparation, transfer, and post-processing. The following are the specific operation methods:

Preparation

1. Design the image: Use image design software such as Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW, etc., to design the pattern or text you want to transfer to the mug. When designing, you need to lay out according to the size and shape of the mug. At the same time, pay attention to the image resolution of not less than 300dpi to ensure the clarity after transfer. The color mode is set to RGB.

2. Print the image: Use a thermal sublimation printer and special sublimation transfer paper to print the designed image. Before printing, according to the characteristics of the printer and transfer paper, select the correct paper type, print quality, and color mode in the printer settings to ensure good printing results.

3. Choose a mug: Choose a mug suitable for thermal sublimation transfer. It is generally recommended to choose a ceramic mug with a smooth surface, white or light color, which can make the color of the pattern more vivid. Avoid choosing mugs with uneven textures or dark colors to avoid affecting the transfer effect.

4. Prepare auxiliary tools: prepare heat transfer machine (such as mug press mug heat transfer machine), high temperature tape, scissors, tweezers, and other tools. If there is no professional mug heat transfer machine, you can also use a household iron, but you need to pay attention to the temperature control and operation skills of the iron.

Transfer Process

1. Cut the transfer paper: According to the size of the mug and the layout of the pattern, use scissors to cut the printed sublimation transfer paper into a suitable size, try to make the transfer paper completely cover the area where the pattern needs to be transferred, and avoid too much excess to reduce wrinkles.

2. Fix the transfer paper: Put the cut transfer paper pattern surface close to the mug, fix the edge of the transfer paper with high-temperature resistant tape, and ensure that the transfer paper does not move during the transfer process. For curved mugs, pay attention to fitting the transfer paper flat on the surface of the cup, and try to avoid wrinkles or bubbles. If there are bubbles, you can use tweezers to gently squeeze them out.

3. Set the parameters of the thermal transfer machine: Turn on the thermal transfer machine, set the temperature to about 180-200℃, and the time to 1-3 minutes. The specific parameters can be adjusted according to the material of the mug, the characteristics of the transfer paper, and the instructions of the thermal transfer machine.

4. Transfer: Place the mug with the transfer paper fixed in the heat transfer machine, make sure the mug is placed steadily, and then start the heat transfer machine to heat the mug evenly. During the transfer process, strictly follow the set time and temperature. Do not open the heat transfer machine or adjust the parameters at will to avoid affecting the transfer effect.

5. Cooling and peeling paper: After the transfer is completed, turn off the power of the heat transfer machine, let the mug cool naturally in the heat transfer machine, or use tools such as fans to accelerate cooling. After cooling, carefully peel off the transfer paper, starting from one corner, and tear it off slowly. The action should be gentle to avoid smearing or damaging the pattern transferred to the mug.

Post-processing

1. Check the pattern: Carefully check the transferred pattern on the mug to see if there are any color deviations, bubbles, flaws, or incomplete transfers. If any problems are found, analyze the cause and try to repair it. For example, for some small bubbles, you can gently poke them with a needle and then press them flat with a soft cloth; for areas with uneven colors, you can consider re-transferring the parts.

2. Cleaning and maintenance: Gently wipe the mug with a clean, soft cloth to remove any tape marks or other impurities that may remain on the surface. In daily use, avoid scratching the surface of the pattern with sharp objects, and try to wash the mug by hand instead of in the dishwasher to extend the life of the pattern.
