What You'll Need
* Sublimation printer & ink
* Sublimation paper
* Polymer-coated sublimation mugs (must say "for sublimation")
* Mug heat press (or convection oven)
* Heat-resistant tape
* Teflon tape or shrink wrap
* Scissors
* Lint-free cloth
* Lsopropyl alcohol (for cleaning)
Sublimation Mug Printing Process
Step 1: Design Preparation
Create your design using graphic software (Photoshop, Canva, etc.)
Flip the image horizontally (mirror image)
Size it to fit your mug (standard area: ~8" tall x 3-3.5" wide)
Step 2: Printing
Load sublimation paper into your printer (check the correct side)
Print using sublimation ink at high quality
Cut excess paper around your design (leave a small border)
Step 3: Mug Preparation
Clean mug with isopropyl alcohol
Remove all fingerprints/dust (they can cause imperfections)
Pre-heat mug in press for 10-15 seconds to remove moisture
Step 4: Applying the Design
Wrap the printed paper around the mug (ink side touching mug)
Secure with heat-resistant tape (avoid overlapping edges)
For extra pressure: Wrap with Teflon tape or shrink-wrap
Step 5: Heat Pressing
Set mug press to 190-210°C.
Press for 3-4 minutes (follow the mug manufacturer's recommendation)
For convection oven: 400°F for 5-6 minutes (place mug on silicone pad)
Step 6: Finishing
Let mug cool for 1-2 minutes before removing paper
Peel paper slowly - the design should be vibrant and permanent
Allow to fully cool before handling
Pro Tips
✔ Always use polymer-coated mugs (test with water drops - they should bead up)
✔ For full-wrap designs, use oversized paper and trim after pressing
✔ Store unused sublimation mugs in plastic bags to prevent dust
✔ First wash after 24 hours (hand wash recommended)
Troubleshooting
Blurry Image: Check paper is pressed tightly
Faded colors: Increase temperature slightly
Ghosting: Ensure the mug isn't moving during press
